Activities
Meetings & Programme
Our interesting and varied programme incorporates a mix of invited speakers, practical and critique sessions. We meet on zoom and in-person
Annual Lecture
Exhibitions
In January 2021, the Club held its first Annual Photographic Exhibition of members’ work at the York Theatre Royal, including prints and digital images. Subsequently, we have held exhibitions every year at the theatre, and our next exhibition will be in January 2026.
Cuppa and Capture
Cuppa & Capture takes place on alternate Mondays with a new set theme each time. We hope that you will join other members upstairs at York Theatre Royal from 12 noon before heading off for the 'Capture' element.
Photo Walks
The Club runs informal Photo Walks in both rural and urban locations mostly around Yorkshire but sometimes a bit further afield.
Club Outings
Once or twice a year, there is a Club Outing for members and their partners. We usually hire a coach and go further afield than the Photo Walks.
Monochrome Interest Group
The Monochrome Interest Group (MIG) is incorporated into the main programme with evenings held via zoom.
Challenges
Our regular on-line challenges were introduced during lockdown, and have proved so popular that they have continued since.
Usually a larger project, challenges encourage members to either learn new editing skills, or to think how to display their images in new creative ways. Examples of the challenges can be found in the gallery section.
Sharing our photography
Our feedback evenings- now known as 'Sharing our love of Photography' promote sharing of ideas, which may help you think about your photography in new ways and influence the way in which you take and process photographs.
Competitions
The Club no longer holds formal competitions. Instead we hold an 'End of Season Review' of members images. Up to 5 images per person are submitted which are then studied by one of our visiting speakers. They give their considered feedback, with constructive criticism of how the image could be improved.
We also have a lighthearted 'It's a Christmas Knockout' with the winner decided by members’ votes.
Courses and Workshops
From time to time, members of the Club run workshops.
Look out for announcements on the Club’s Facebook page, and check ‘What’s On’.
Social
After our in-person evening meetings, we usually go to the nearby pub for a drink and a chat. We also enjoy popular social events throughout the season.
