The Club runs Photo Walks, which take place approximately once a month in both rural and urban locations mostly around Yorkshire, but sometimes a little further afield. We have recently visited Saltaire, several locations in the Yorkshire Wolds, the North York Moors Railway, Leeds, Hull and the Humber Bridge.
The walks are a great opportunity to stretch your legs and unleash your creativity. They are very sociable, and you’ll be in the company of like-minded people who are also keen to take photographs. There is always someone on hand to give you a tip or help you out.
Before each Photo Walk, the organisers provide information and a map of the area. We often meet up in a café for a chat before heading off on the walk. You are free to go at your own pace and we usually reconvene at the end of the walk for a cup of tea.
There is no additional charge for this activity; it is included as part of your Club membership.
Non-members are welcome to a free ‘come and try it’ Photo Walk to see whether they would like to take part more regularly. If so, they can either pay £3 per session or we would encourage them to take out an annual ‘Cuppa & Capture/Photo Walk membership’ (C&C/PW membership) at £15. This annual subscription allows participation in all Cuppa & Capture and Photo Walk sessions during the course of the season (1 September – 31 August). If you are interested, please contact Sue, our Membership Secretary, who will send you a C&C/PW membership form.
It is helpful to know who is coming on any particular walk, so if you are interested in joining a walk, please email photowalks@bishopthorpecc.co.uk.
We keep in touch through a WhatsApp group, and this is particularly important in case of last minute changes. We also post details on our Bishopthorpe Camera Club Photo Walks Facebook page so please sign up to both the WhatsApp and Facebook groups.
You are encouraged to share your images afterwards, both in our Galleries (see Submitting Images) and on the Bishopthorpe Camera Club Photo Walks Facebook page.
