Activities
Meetings & Programme
Our interesting and varied Programme incorporates a mix of invited speakers, practical and critique sessions and competitions
Annual Lecture
For our Annual Lecture we welcome a distinguished photographer to the Club. Open to the public (entry by ticket).
Our next Annual Lecture will be held on Tuesday 28 April 2020: Paul Berriff – ‘A Life in Pictures – 50 Years Behind the Lens’
Exhibitions
In January 2021, the Club held its first Annual Photographic Exhibition of members’ work at the York Theatre Royal, including prints and digital images. More recently, we were invited by the Theatre to mount a special exhibition to accompany their community production of ‘The Coppergate Woman’.
Cuppa and Capture
Cuppa & Capture takes place on alternate Mondays with a new set theme each time. The Cuppa aspect is back, we hope that you will join other members upstairs at York Theatre Royal from 12 noon before heading off for the 'Capture' element.
Photo Walks
The Club runs Photo Walks in both rural and urban locations mostly around Yorkshire but sometimes a bit further afield. They take place approximately once a month.
Club Outings
Once or twice a year, there is a Club Outing for members and their partners. We usually hire a coach and go further afield than the Photo Walks.
Monochrome Interest Group
The Monochrome Interest Group (MIG) meets monthly on a Tuesday evening during the main season to share monochrome images on a set theme.
Challenges
During the current coronavirus situation, most of our activities are not able to go ahead in the usual way, so we are running regular on-line challenges to help us keep in touch and carry on enjoying our photography together.
Critiques
Our critique evenings promote sharing of ideas, which may help you think about your photography in new ways and influence the way in which you take and process photographs.
Competitions
The Club holds one print and one digital projected image competition per year with an invited outside judge. We also have a lighthearted 'It's a Christmas Knockout' with the winner decided by members’ votes.
Courses and Workshops
From time to time, members of the Club run workshops.
Look out for announcements on the Club’s Facebook page, and check ‘What’s On’.
Social
After our evening meetings, we usually go to the nearby pub for a drink and a chat. We also have a popular Christmas lunch.
