This year, we introduced a new format for what had previously been our end-of-season competitions and showcases. Members submitted up to four images without the constraint of them fitting within any particular ‘category’. In addition, all images received individual feedback from an external reviewer and, unlike a competition, there were no winners, favourites or scores.
We were very fortunate that Mike Barnard, a photographer from East Yorkshire, accepted our invitation to review all the images, split over two sessions. Members benefited from Mike’s feedback on every submitted image, including their own, with the added bonus of being able to interact with him during his critique. It was a valuable experience, not only for the contributor, but also for those in the audience.
