Hugh Rooney: My Black and White Photography

Hugh developed a love of black & white photography using film and the traditional darkroom. Black & White photography remains his preferred style, and his favourite themes are Architecture and Landscape. He has been an active member of his local camera club (Bangor & North Down in Northern Ireland) for 30 years. He obtained a Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society (FRPS) in 2022.
Hugh’s photographs have been published in a number of publications including Amateur Photographer, and Black & White Photography magazines, and in the Friends of Creative Monochrome, and Irish Photography Yearbooks. His images have been included in many exhibitions including the Royal Photographic Society’s (RPS) Works of Distinction Exhibition in 2008, the RPS’s International Print Exhibition in 2011 and 2015, and the RPS Biennial Members exhibition in 2017. He was awarded the Gold medal in the RPS Digital Imaging Group Print Exhibition in 2020.
