Competitions

The Club has moved away from formal competitions with judges and points, to a more critiqued based approach. These are our ‘Showcase’ evenings held towards the end of the season. Members are invited to submit images from their portfolios into the following various categories-

  • Landscape
  • The Living world
  • Man-made
  • Architecture and objects
  • Portraiture
  • Street
  • Abstract and creative

We hold two ‘Showcase’ evenings where we invite one of our visiting speakers to constructively critique these images, give feedback, and then to choose their favourites.  For 2024 Moisés Levy joined us from Mexico. His favourite selections are shown in the galleries  for each category, along with all the images submitted. The galleries for previous years (2021-23) can also be found on this page.

His overall favourite image was ‘Flamingos’ by Charlie Eddington.

We also have a lighthearted ‘It’s a Christmas Knockout’ digital projected image competition, where there is no invited judge, and the winner is decided by members’ votes on a knockout basis.

For guidance on entering any of the competitions see Submitting Images.
