18 members and friends plus Barney the dog met in the lovely tea garden of the Mallyan Spout Hotel for refreshments and a nice catch up before setting off on our planned walk.
Mallyan Spout certainly didn’t disappoint following overnight rain with plenty of water gushing down the waterfall. The walk then followed the course of the beautiful West Beck to Beck Hole then over the edge of moorland via Darnholm, Goathland Station and return to the Mallyan Spout Hotel. Some of us were lucky enough to see the spectacular sight of several steam engines operating on the line near Darnholm with the sound of engines under load echoing around the valley sides.
After a slightly cloudy start, sunshine and blue skies greeted us for the rest of the day which turned out to be quite an enjoyable occasion for us all.
