After being on the waiting list since July 2019, the time had come for a group of our members to meet up for a guided tour of Bishopthorpe Palace, followed by a delicious cream tea in the main hall and a wander around the delightful gardens. Our visit was led by David, a member of the Palace staff, who gave us a very entertaining and informative guided tour, which was much appreciated by us all.
Photography was allowed, and some members have shared a few of their images, which are shown in the gallery below. As usual, lots of variety, both in terms of subject matter and interpretation, but you’ll see that the beautiful chandeliers attracted at least their fair share of attention.
Many thanks to Alex for arranging this excellent opportunity to look round the Palace, home to the Archbishop of York, which was organised with his usual good humour and meticulous attention to detail.
