Robert Canis: Nature in miniature – macro and creative close-ups
Robert Canis is a professional landscape and wildlife photographer living in Kent. From an early age, he had a fascination with the natural world, and from the moment he first picked up a camera (a Kodak Brownie 127) at the age of 6, he’s been hooked!
Tonight, Robert will be inspiring us to look more closely – and creatively – at the fascinating world we so often pass by, whether by using extension tubes, flash and reflectors or fisheye and telephoto lenses.
Although no longer a member of the RPS, at the age of 19 he was awarded an Associate in the nature category. He was, and still is, one of the youngest ever to achieve this distinction.
He considers himself to be a stay-at-home photographer and much of his personal work is undertaken within 20 miles of where he lives. However, over the years he has developed a fascination with northern and eastern Europe, which has resulted in numerous trips to Poland, Finland, Norway, Iceland and to the Czech Republic where he now regularly leads photo-tours.
For more than 30 years, he has contributed on a semi-regular basis to the photographic press and is represented by several leading image libraries. He has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Royal Photographic Society’s Gold Medal, twice highly commended in Wildlife Photographer of the Year and twice category winner in the British Wildlife Photography Awards. In 2014, he was appointed a Nikon ambassador for their Extreme Weather Photography campaign.

Visitors
Visitors are welcome (£5 per person, or £7.50 per couple, shared screen). We have introduced a new automated booking system so you can book a place simply by clicking on either the ‘Buy Single Visitor Ticket’ or ‘Buy Joint Visitor Ticket’ button at the bottom of this page.
After selecting your single or joint ticket type, you will be asked to register for or login to your account. This is necessary for us to confirm your booking and send you the Zoom link automatically by email. You only need to register once.
Once you have booked, the Zoom link will also appear at the bottom of this page whenever you are logged in, so if you inadvertently lose the email, you can still be able to access the Zoom link on the website.
We hope that you will find the automated booking system straightforward to use, but please contact Julia if you have any problems.
