Britta Jaschinski: The Power of Photography
Britta Jaschinski is passionate about wildlife and nature conservation. She has been described as one of the most influential photographers of our time and has won numerous international awards including European Wildlife Photographer of the Year, and she is the only photographer to win this twice. She is a co-founder of Photographers Against Wildlife Crime, an international group of award winning photographers who have joined forces to use their powerful and iconic images to help bring an end to the wildlife trade.
Britta works on assignment with international authorities, charities, museums and non-governmental organisations. Her work sometimes takes her into perilous, undercover situations to document the illegal wildlife trade. She has been described as “a courageous and inspiring photographer or even a fighter who uses her camera as a weapon in a battle to reclaim our essential respect for wildlife.”
Britta will be sharing work from her most recent project. Expect images that are graphic and uncompromising yet hauntingly beautiful and inspiring and with a power to influence and lead to change.

Britta normally gives talks to huge audiences at photography festivals and conservation events so we are extremely fortunate that she has agreed to speak to Bishopthorpe Camera Club.
