Piotr Skrzypiec: “Hiking without your camera makes no sense at all…”

Piotr Skrzypiec is an award-winning landscape photographer based in Slovenia.

Piotr’s passion for landscape began during his childhood, hiking in the mountainous Beskid Sądecki region of Poland. In 2008, following his masters degree in geography, he moved to Slovenia, where he first picked up a camera and began his journey in landscape photography. His motto is “Hiking without your camera makes no sense at all…”

Piotr manages to combine his love for photography, mountaineering and the outdoors by leading photographic tours and workshops, including  in Slovenia, Croatia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and in the Alps, as well as in his native Poland. He has written a photographic guide to Moravia in the Czech Republic.

Piotr’s images have a peaceful, ethereal and sometimes dream-like feel that would not look out of place in cinematography. His images are often taken using long lenses to isolate and compress features in the landscape. He will often shoot at both ends of the day and he loves to feature light trails. In 2021, he won the inaugural Canon Redline Challenge, a photography competition for ambitious enthusiasts.

Check out Piotr’s website and instagram page and you will see that he is equally at home with landscape and nature.

This should be a visual treat and is likely to inspire visits to Slovenia and some less well-known parts of Europe.

Visitors are welcome (£5) and anyone interested should contact Julia for more information or to book a place.
