Sharon Tenenbaum: An Alternative Perspective

We are delighted to welcome Sharon Tenenbaum, a multi-award-winning photographer and educator from Vancouver BC.

Originally, Sharon worked as a civil engineer, but a 3-month sabbatical in South East Asia sparked her desire to change her life and to become a photographer. Starting initially as a street photographer, her engineering background led to her developing an interest in architectural photography, with a focus on strong shapes and geometry. Sharon envisages a scene in the way that she will edit it, rather than what the eye or camera perceives.

Sharon describes herself as an artist working within the medium of photography. Creativity is a key element of all her work and she aspires to “show reality in a different way”. Her artistic vision is clearly seen in her long exposure and monochrome architectural photography, and is even more evident in her recent ‘Impressions of a City’ and ‘Painted Landscapes’ series, which are a meld of monochrome photography and painting.

Sharon is a keen cyclist and has even created abstract landscapes from bicycle parts.

Sharon will share her journey, showing the variety and scope of her work. There will be an in-depth exploration of fine art architectural photography along with some guidance on how to create and improve your images. This promises to be a visual and educational treat.

To see more of Sharon’s work, check out her website and instagram pages. If you would like to learn more tips and techniques from Sharon, you can attend Sharon’s free ‘talk and learn‘ sessions on Tuesdays at 18.00 UK time.

Visitors are welcome (£5) and should contact Julia for more information or to book a place.
