Industrial  Cuppa & Capture, 8 April 2024

Although York is no longer an industrial centre, traces of its industrial heritage are easy to find – and some may remember it first hand!

York is well known for its railway industry and some of our members obviously enjoyed seeking out images at the Railway Museum. York is, of course, also very well known for its confectionery industry, so you will see quite a few signs of that amongst the images, including metallic replicas of mouth-watering chocolate products and factories now repurposed as apartments. In your itself, you’ll find evidence of past book-binding and printing, with more than one photo of the Printer’s Devil – obviously our members were attracted to it!

Take a look at the gallery and look out for a host of other industries captured for this outing, both in York and further afield, and in a wide variety of styles. Enjoy!
