Paul Mitchell: The Seeing Eye
We are delighted to welcome Paul back to his native Yorkshire. Paul is a creative photographer and graphic designer.
In his talk, ‘The Seeing Eye’, he will take us through the importance of looking beyond the obvious, generating interest by focusing on details, textures and shapes, both in nature and the man-made world. Paul will also explain various creative techniques such as intentional camera movement and multiple exposures through to the use of creative lenses and filters.
Paul’s interest in photography started in his teens with a simple 35 mm rangefinder camera, before gaining a more formal education in photography whilst studying graphic design at art college. His career in graphic design spanned some 45 years, and he has been running his own design business for the past 35 years. Over the past decade his photography has gained momentum and he now devotes most of his time lecturing and running photography workshops. His articles and images have been published in many photography magazines, and he has had numerous exhibitions in the UK . He is a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society, and is currently Chair of the Royal Photographic Society Landscape Distinctions Panel, as well as a member of the Panels overseeing Visual Art Photography and Photobooks.
